The Salon Chairman, persons closely involved in the organisation of the salon, persons in charge of the handling of the salon software, and judges are not permitted to enter the salon.

Recognition: The salon is conducted in accordance with the recommendations of and approval by:

The Fédération Internationale de l’Art Photographique (FIAP)           2018/063

The Photographic Society of America (PSA)                                     2018/006

The Royal Photographic Society (RPS)                                             2018/008

Subject to the rules of the relevant organisations, acceptances in this exhibition are eligible for inclusion in applications for FIAP honours, APS honours, PSA Star/Galaxy Ratings and PSA ‘Who’s Who’.

In order to have legal authority on those who do not respect the rules of FIAP, all participants in the 2018 International Salon must tick the box when entering the Salon which states:

For more information contact FIAP

“I hereby expressly agree to the FIAP document 2014/317 E  <Conditions for application and regulations for organization if international photographic events> and especially to chapter II  <Regulations for International photographic events under FIAP patronage>  dealing under Section II.2 with the FIAP participation rules and the red list.”

Participants who do not tick the box will be excluded from the 2018 Salon.

Image creation and reproduction: Entries must originate as photographs (image captures of objects via light sensitivity) made by the entrant on photographic emulsion or acquired digitally.

All final work must be on electronic file, or on photographic or electronic print material, mounting excepted.

By virtue of submitting an entry, the entrant certifies the work as his/her own (aliases are not permitted).

The entrant permits the sponsors to reproduce all or part of the entered material free of charge for publication and/or display in media related to the exhibition. This may include low resolution posting on a website. Note: Entrants who indicate that their images may not be reproduced or used may not be eligible for awards or inclusion in audiovisuals of the exhibition and could be subject to disqualification by the exhibition sponsor.

By submitting an entry the entrant certifies that in the process of capturing the image the entrant did not violate any of the standards of ethical practice of FIAP, PSA, RPS or APS.

Authenticity: With the sole act of submitting his/her images or files to a salon under FIAP Patronage, the entrant accepts without exception and with no objection that the submitted images can be investigated by FIAP to establish if these obey FIAP regulations and definitions even if the entrant is not a member of FIAP; that FIAP will use any means at its disposal for this undertaking; that any refusal to cooperate with FIAP or any refusal to submit the original files as captured by the camera, or failure to provide sufficient evidence, will be sanctioned by FIAP and that in case of sanctions following the non compliance with FIAP regulations, the name of the entrant will be released in any form useful to inform the breaches of the rules. It is recommended to leave the EXIF data in the submitted files intact in order to ease eventual investigations.

Copyright: The copyright of each image entered always remains with the author of the image. The exhibition assumes no liability for any misuse of copyright.

Note: The salon committee reserves the right to check all accepted images for copyright violation.

Image alteration and computer generation: Except for the restrictions on Nature images described in the Nature definition, images may be altered, either digitally or otherwise, by the entrant.  Images may not be constructed entirely with a computer and all photographic components must have been photographed by the entrant who holds copyright of the complete works submitted.

Image titlesEach image must have a unique title. Images without a title will not be judged.

Once an image has been accepted in a PSA Recognized exhibition, that same image, or a like “in camera” or a “reproduction” duplicate of that image:

  1. May not be re-entered in any section of the same Division Star Ratings class in that exhibition regardless of media, format, or title.
  2. May not be re-titled for entry in any other PSA Recognized exhibition.

Titles may not include file extensions such as .jpg or .jpeg. (or any other camera capture filenames). Words such as “untitled” or “no title” are not acceptable as part or all of an image’s title, nor are camera capture filenames or titles consisting of only numbers.

Titles must use the English alphabet and can contain no more than 30 characters (including spaces). Image titles may be in a foreign language, but the English alphabet must be used.

The titles of prints and digital images should be exactly as you want them to appear in the catalogue.

No title or identification of the maker shall be visible anywhere on the face of an image or print mount.

Titles will not be announced at judging.

Email List

By virtue of submitting an entry, the Entrant accepts that his/her email address will be used for communicating information about this salon and future Maitland salons. The Entrant may opt out of this email list by notifying enquiries@maitlandsalon.org.  Warning: opting out of this email list before the salon catalogs are posted may result in the entrant not receiving important information about the salon.

Monochrome images may be entered in the PID colour section. Entrants are reminded that monochrome images entered in a PID colour section only count towards PID Colour Class stars, not Monochrome Class stars.
